The scope of work for the controlled demolition was completed February 26th, see Final Visual Inspection. The continued demolition activity has been centered around the parts of the building that remained after the controlled demolition was completed. These parts of the building have been treated as conventional demolition since they didn’t have any asbestos containing material (ACM). These parts were the ramp and stairs on Cayuga Street, the bookmobile garage at the Southwest corner of the garage, the screen wall along Court Street, and the foundation slab.
The current schedule projection from Gorick construction is that the remaining demolition will be complete by the end of the week.
We will be appearing at the Tompkins County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) on April 10th to apply for a tax abatement. After this step the IDA will hold a public hearing ahead of the May 8th IDA meeting. Assuming the application is approved at the May 8th meeting, pile driving would start within a few days after that.
We don’t have more schedule specifics at this time but will provide them as soon as they are available.
